Death not avenged...
It's been almost a year, and the crypic message the clans have received had claimed more than it's fair share of lives.
Breezestar of Whisperclan was claimed by Ghostclan. They took her without reason, but the death of more was to come.
Moonflower of Dewclan cheated death by evading a badger that entered the closed camp. But her kits; Reedkit, Yarrowkit and Sweetkit were claimed by the claws of the restless spirits of Ghostclan. But it seems that within the clans of; Whisper, Dew, Mist and Lunar were to suffer for the unjust death of so many warriors left to die when the floods reached the lands.
They did not desert them, the clan leaders did everything they could to save their warriors. But the death of one of the most important cats unsettled all and still leaves them haunted; Hollyfrost was a Starclan bound cat and was sent to Earth along with her mother and other kin in disquise. She was left to die by her suitor named; Posionsnow. He never loved her, but was jelous of her destiny and struck her with a fatal blow and left her to rot...
Posionsnow was never confronted however, after the mysterious death of Breezestar and her deputy Starbreeze everyone felt that the henious tom was fit to lead his clan. Only one other cat saw the death... His name was Earthstorm, and even though he still lives, his spirit is trapped in the spirit relam trying to seek the restless soul of his sister...
I: The Spirits Suffer, But So Do The Living
" Hollyfrost!" cried the strained voice of a pain spirit that truly did not belong. His star encrusted paws seemed to sink through the very ground of this place called Ghostclan. The very air of this place, seemed to cling to the living but yet they were dead and the very place was covered with the umistakeable tang of blood and suffering.. His deep green eyes searched the crying spirits that dwelled here, he tried to seek out a dappled pelt, but they were all silver. Faded spirits of unjust deaths.
" Hollyfrost. I need you. The clans need you..." He cried. His body rippled with fear, he could see them, padding slowly twords him, engulfing his air. But when he tried to fight they just stood there, unsure of what to do, their silvery coats seemed to rot and decay falling before his very eyes... They started to chant as they padded twords him again, falling apart... The whole of the land was also starting to erode from right under his ginger paws." Wandering spirit, spliced between spiritual middle. Avenge her death!" Then he found himself, falling through the ground. Hearing them chant their cry." EARTHSTORM!"
The ginger and brown tom lept from his sleeping place in the warriors den, a concerned face stared at him. " Earthstorm? What's wrong, you acted like you've seen Hollyfrost's ghost!" Earthstorm had recovered from his leap of shock having collided into Sunfrost; The tom hissed slightly and stalked out of the den. After muttering a sorry, Earthstorm rounded narrowing his eyes on his bestfriend and sister; Furyhope. " But that's just it Furyhope. I think I did!" Earthstorm cried his deep green eyes wide.. Furyhope's tortiseshell pelt rippled with greif and sorrow, "But. Brother, there is nothing anyone can do to bring our sister back. Not even our mother can bring her bring her from somthing she was destined to do..." Furyhope's equaly deep green eyes grew wide, like she had just said to much. Earthstorm fixed her with a gentle gaze, Hollyfrost was one of the sisters who had brought Furyhope back from death, and recovered her chance to come to the clans. " What do you mean, her destiny?" He looked at her carefully, Furyhope always spoke in crypic messages, like her Starclan bound duty was to do so... He shook his head, his long fur shaking off the haunting feeling that had engulfed him... all those decaying bodies, all the cries. Where was Hollyfrost? What was she ment to do? And what did he have to do with it?
" My son, I think it is time to reveal your destiny." meowed a soft and sorrowfull voice. Earthstorm turned his body to find the greif striken face of his mother, and leader; Loststar. Her beautiful black and silver pelt clung dully to her body as if she refused to beleive one of her kits was gone, " Yes mother. Should Furyhope come as well?" The Dewclan leader fixed her daughter with her ice blue gaze and nodded slowly, " Yes, before you know it, all my children will seek I disagreeistance. Meet me in my den when you are ready. But tread carefully. Things will all be clear, but you have a terrible and wonderous journey ahead of you..." With those words said, the she-cat limped slowly out of the warriors den, her sadness auraed all over the dew covered camp. The whole of Starclan seemed to weep for Hollyfrost death. Earthstorm's pelt fluffed up from the chilly rain. He nodded and looked to his sister, " Before we talk to mother. I must ask you; You know of Hollyfrost's fate? Why do you not know mine, or yours?"
Furyhope let out a soft chuckle and rested her tortiseshell tail on her brothers flank, " I only know what I am told. I see, and read the Earth, brother. I can sence these restless sprits. They seek a sheperd and they chose Hollyfrost. Without her alive, they have no way of passing into the next life, and into eternal slumber." The she'cat's green eyes were clouded with thoughts that made her fur bristle, " She was chosen from birth.. to lead the dead to Starclan... She's the leader of Ghostclan; A clan of restless spirits. and only she can lead those spirits...Ghostclan can only exist because of her. They are lost between worlds..." The small she-cat stopped her eyes wide, " Hollyfrost's spirit is suffering! S- she tells me, her death must be avenged... or all will suffer... N- no! I cannot be hearing this!!! Hollyfrost, who did this to you!!? What can we do to stop this madness!" Furyhope cried battling with her mind. The sound of thick paws came running into the warriors den, Loststar looked at her kit and whispered. " Your death will be avenged Hollyfrost, That I promise." Then a flash of light blinded them all and Earthfrost fell...Earthfrost was so confused when he stood, but when he saw the light and glimmer that Hollyfrost eyes only held within Furyhope's body, he understood Furyhope's connection with the spirits. Hollyfrost turned to Earthstorm, she used Furyhope's body to communicate... but she could faintly talk. The ginger and brown tom looked to his mother, but it seemed she had forseen this... He spoke gently to the suffring spirit. " Hollyfrost... Who did this to you?"
The voice that poured forth out of Furyhope's mouth was so haunting and beautiful that Earthstorm fought the urge to cry, " Earthstorm... Many.. will... suffer... star of posion will rise and all will be lost. Fury and Storm alone cannot win..." She paused her cry so loud Earthstorm felt the ground shake, " Star, Sky, Night, Frost, Ember, Lost and Hidden will be needed to complete your quest... Star of posion killed....many.... jelous ran through his veins... Flower of Moon must survive... if spirit lives within her... dies... moon.... gone..." She gasped her form starting to fade, but she continued, Earthstorm stared with shock and horror, but who was Star of posion? His eyes were glued to the suffring spirit as she meowed once more. " Star... must live.... Light fade so does she... Ember... sun... will die..... Night... will fade.... Hidden will suffer, no food.... starve.... Frost no seasons...Sky, earth no longer exist, All tied as one. Earth and Fury tied as one. One die so does other... One talk to spirits, one is used to talk...." She spoke in such fragmented words.But as he stole a quick glance around, his mother was frozen to the spot... was he sleeping...? The spirit heaved a breath, " So. Weak. Wandering sprit, spliced between spiritual middle. Avenge my death Earthstorm...." she whispered... then her spirit faded and he fell into a darkness that ended with screams and yowls of the most brutal battles, and the cries of mothers losing kits. " Nooooo!!!!!"
" Earthstorm! Earthstorm!" cried Loststar. Earthstorm felt dizzy as he rose to his dust covered paws. His mother fixed him with her icy blue gaze and at once understood what had conspired. She padded over and licked his dust covered pelt untill a soft mew sounded. " She talked to you. Didn't she?" meowed a quiet voice. Earthstorm whipped around to find one of his other kin; Frozenshard. A pure white she-cat with chips of blue ice for eyes. She was standing at the mouth of the den her body rigid with disbeleif " What do you mean Frozenshard?" Earthstorm meowed confusion coursing through his brain. Loststar looked at her daughter, then to Earthstorm and finally the fallen Furyhope. " I will leave Frozenshard to talk you Earthstorm. Heed what she tells you. And don't leave here without everything you need to know. Saddly, I must return to Starclan. I have left Gorsestar in charge. I also must tend to Stardrop and see what she has accomplished in my absense. I thought I had time to conversate, but this issue is out of my paws. I will return when you seek guidance." She paused as she padded over to help Furyhope stand, then continued " Then I must see to Lostsoul and make sure he is well. Nightfrost, Emberash. and Hiddeninsanity, and Skydragon are fine as they are. But if you see them, let then know where I will be." With that said, the Dewclan leader slowly padded out of the den, she stopped quickly to speak with the deputy; Hollowpromise and tell him of her resignment. Then he saw her pad out of the camp. But she had also altered the mind of her warriors; to think she had died... When she finally dissapeared and the news spread, all of the warriors looked to Furyhope, He and Frozenshard. There was sympathy in the eyes of eachone as they found that their beloved leader was summoned by Starclan. But they all thought she had died... Not summoned, for she was one of the great leaders. Two she-cats named Articblossom and Appleblossom made their way over to Earthstorm and his kin, " We will greive the loss of our leader, and your mother... She was one of the most respected leaders I have ever seen." The grey and white she-cat Articblossom meowed. Appleblossom nodded her ginger head, and stole a look at Earthstorm. If he didn't know better, he would have thought that she had a crush on him... Her icy green eyes, warm because of her nature grew wide everytime they looked at Earthstorm. Frozenshard and Furyhope nodded their heads bowed, " Her death is a great loss to the forest. But we must not greive for to long... And we must honor our new leader; Hollowstar."
At those words a soft voice sounded from behind the pretty white she-cat, " Kind words Frozenshard. I wouldn't have expected such praise from your sharp tounge." Hollowpromise joked with a strange light to his warm blue eyes. At once all the warriors wheeled around to face their new leader, " Well. I have respect for you, Hollowpromise." Frozenshard shurgged a slight blush to her fur. Earthstorm and Furyhope exchanged a glance as Hollowpromise's eyes lit up. They could tell that their new leader had fallen for the sharp tounged beuaty that was Frozenshard. Earthstorm looked around, at the lush green trees and the prey scent that flooded over his scent glands. How could the death of one cat cause so much pain?... Frozenshard opened her mouth to meow somthing to the new Dewclan leader, but all that managed to come out was a small squeak like a newborn kit. Earthstorm chuckled lightly and lashed his tail twords the Warriors den, " Frozenshard. We need to speak, remember?" Those words jolted Frozenshard from her moment of embarassment, " Yes, uhh. Well. Hollowpromise we must go." She shuffled her paws on the ground. Articblossom and Appleblossom let out a slight giggle and Frozenshard hissed. The peppered tom smiled as he touched noses tenderly and unexpectitly with Frozenshard, " Very well, I want to see you for a patrol later on however." With that the tom padded off to speak with a black she-cat with glassy blue eyes.
Frozenshard stood rooted to her spot, her eyes were soft and tender, and her fur auraed heat. Appleblossom and Atricblossom stood shocked, so the leader had a crush on Frozenshard? Earthstorm shook his head, that was obvious ever sence Hollowpromise was a kit. Furyhope smiled her deep green eyes sparkled with relization, " Come on sister, we must speak." Frozenshard nodded, and with a huge amount of effort dragged her paws of the dieing leaf-bare season grass and her eyes from Hollowpromise to look at her kin. Her eyes soon returned to their icy state and her demenor returned, " I want to hurry this!" she hissed as they padded quickly to the warriors den. A soft hiss sounded, " Yeah to share tounges with Hollowpromise..." Frozenshard growled as she turned her head to find herself face to face with a pretty black and white she-cat named Dragonflower, "Yeah well. Keep away from him. I've liked him sence I was a kit, and I plan to keep him to myself. There are things you don't know about your precious Hollowpromise"
Frozenshard snarled and laughed, " Yeah, you are pretty, but do you even know if he likes you? I won't keep from my leader. If he chooses to fancy me I won't stop him. Nor can you just assume you can stake claim on a cat, much less our leader."
Dragonflower hissed and clawed the ground her pretty black and white fur bristling, " You can't keep him forever! It's not like anyone would want a mate like you anyway!" she laughed and padded away followed by her aprentice; Icepaw. But before she dissapeared she flung over her shoulder," Beauty and grace are everything, you might have beauty! But you've got the grace of a hedgehog" Then her paw steps died away. Earthstorm and Furyhope exchanged a quick glance as the warrior dissapeared behind a curtan of Ivy; the apprentices' den... Frozenshard snarled and started to pad after her, ready to dart after the mousebrained fool. But she stopped in her tracks as she remembered somthing that made her ice blue eyes huge with fear.
" Quick, there is not much time..." She hissed fear in her huge icy eyes. The voices were getting closer, spirits close to the living world, crying for them.
Earthstorm had just relized that they had left Articblossom and Appleblossom. He looked at them and found his eyes locked with Appleblossom, from a distance he could still tell how nervous she was as she looked away when he waved with his tail. Odd, she was a nice she-cat. He really wanted to get to know her. Well, he'd try later. He turned his attention back to his kin and meowed, " Alright, what do I need to do? What is there to know?" His fur bristled with frustration. So much was unsaid, but hopefuly Frozenshard could reveal all that was lost to him. His kin looked into his eyes her own glittering with sadness, she and Hollyfrost were close just as he and Furyhope were. It burdened the tom to see his strong willed sister in so much pain.
The air was chilled and a strange coldness had crept over the camp. Frozenshard's eyes strayed to Hollowpromise, they glittered with untold feelings twords her leader. From the top of a close Birch tree a Crow called. Frozenshard shook her snow white head, her silky fur glittering in the weak sunlight. She beckoned for her kin to go deeper into the warriors den, easedroppers were common in Dewclan. Earthstorm nodded as he and Furyhope stood and walked to the back of the warriors den, a shaft of light broke through the bramble bush, and made it seem more welcoming. After the three cats had settled down Frozenshard fixed Earthstorm with the same icy gaze his mother scolded him so many times with. " Earthstorm," She began her fur bristling on her shoulders. " Mother has left me with the duty of informing you of your destiny and Furyhope's." She meowed flicking her younger sister with her snowy tail. Furyhope nodded her deep green eyes fixed upon that of her sister's icy blue ones. Earthstorm drew himself up and prepaired for what he was destined to do. His fur bristled with excitment and also resentment. Why couldn't he just be a normal warrior? Wait, what was he thinking?! He had a duty to Starclan, Loststar and most important; Hollyfrost... He resigned himself to his fate. What else could he do? Frozenshard broke Earthstorm out of his dark thoughts. " Mother explained to me when I was but an apprentice. We are, and must remain intact with Starclan and earth... For we are all key elements to how this world... and Starclan exist." She paused for a moment, she looked to Furyhope, then to Earthstorm. Furyhope's eyes were glazed as she drank in everything that her sister said. Earthstorm just sat rigid, he was still confused, Frozenshard continued. " When mother was just a small kit, a star-cat came to her mother and let her know the role that she would play. But what everyone doesn't know is that Mother, Loststar... was Star lost in time, she was tribe cat." She paused to lick a snow white paw, and draw it over her ear," Now at this point even I was confused. How could a Star-clan cat visit a tribe mother who follows the Tribe of Endless Hunting? See, What mother told me, is that she was never ment for the tribe, and that's why she survived the attack when the Healer's half kin attacked. Her mother knew of her and her kits destiny. So, saddly our grandmother sacraficed herself for the sake her five survivng kits sake; Star lost in time, and Blackness of a lost sun, Lily that blooms in spring, Star in midnight sky, and Moonlight that shines on lake." Frozenshard sniffled lightly, as she had met her Grandmother in starclan and knew the sister that was a spitting image of her: Emberash. Earthstorm nodded, his deep voice echoed off the bramble bush walls," But what does this have to do with me?" By this time he was getting impatient with his sister, she was making to much reffrence to what she wanted to tell him, and was wasting time not just telling him!
Frozenshard opened her mouth, revealing sharp white teeth to speak again. But she tenced as she felt a soft tail across her shoulders, as she turned Frozenshard gave a small mew of suprise to see Hollowpromise, " Why hello, Hollowpromise. Do you need anything?" The white she-cat asked softly. She rose to a sitting position as Earthstorm gave a small chuckle. He had only seen the gentle side of his sharp tounged sister when she used to play with Hollowpromise. Furyhope's eyes glittered with relization and a bit of jelousy... But then it dissapeared, she faniced Sunfrost, Hollowpromises brother. But she never had enough courage to tell the golden tom her feelings. Her dappled head turned as Hollowpromise shuffled his paws as he gathered up the courage to speak to Frozenshard. " Well. Yes, I was wondering if... if you'd like to come to the Moonstone with me, when I receive my nine lives..." His peppered fur bristled with nervousness as his deep blue eyes darted around the den, to Earthstorm's good humored face and Furyhope's glazed eyes. Frozenshard could not hide her shock and excitement. Her icy eyes darted over to her kin, she would have loved to go... " Hollowpromise, I would love to-." She was cut off by his nervous mew, " That's great we must.-" He stopped, there was a look of quiet fury on Frozenshard's face. " You cut me off," she whispered with a slight growl. " I said, I would love to. But I have a duty to my kin. There is somthing important going on, and they must know their place." Her eyes softened when she saw that the tom's eyes grew hurt. She ran a silky tail over his shoulders and gave his ear a brisk lick, " If you can spare time, then I will accomany you. But, I must fufill my duty to Loststar, and Starclan."
Hollowpromise nodded, his peppered fur bristled with a slight shock that she spoke to him like that, but he knew the sharpness of her tounge and his fur lowered. " Very well. I shall wait. I always knew you were special. But, I was shocked when your mother told me of your true orgin." he purred running a rough tounge over her silken ears. " I still have to choose the deputy of our clan..." He gave a small smile, and with a loving flick of a tail dashed off to his sister; Glasshope. Frozenshard turned back to her brother, her eyes glittered with sadness. " Yes, well the reason, I am still upon the earth was my duty to Starclan... I have to tell you. Furyhope and you share a special bond; You can communicate with the dead..."
Earthstorm stopped, his ears angled twords his sister..." Wait, so your telling us, we can talk with dead cats?" Frozenshard's eyes glittered with an odd anger, " Mousebrain!!!" she hissed. " How do you think the Medicine cats can speak with starclan? They were chosen. Now I know your both not medicine cats, but us as Starclan born cats have special traits that makes us what we are." Earthstorm's fur bristled, how dare she! But as she spoke, he understood. " So, because were Starclan cats, we cannot choose where our own destiny lies?" He quiried. His ginger paws clawed up the grass in confusion, his green eyes met the ones of Furyhope and then he looked to the sky. " Why us mother? Why?! Why do we have to fulfill a quest that we have no idea what we're doing!!' he ended his yowl with a angered spit. Frozenshard let out a cross hiss, " That's going to get you no where! You should be HONURED to be chosen by mother! Do you know, she told me I was to weak minded for what you two had to endure?" She finished with a low hiss. Furyhope's eyes grew wide, " She really said that?" asked the dark ginger she-cat timidly. Earthfrost turned his back, his long hooked claws sinking into the ground. How could the death of one cat affect so much. He listened to the sounds of the birds and the comforting lull of the waterfall in his ears. " You know what?" He meowed suddenly. "I don't care weither I have a duty to Starclan or not, I am not going. " Frozenshard who was talking quietly to Furyhope whipped around and struck her brother with thorn sharp claws, " Don't you dare go back on your destiny!!" she yowled, making brambles rain from the warriors' den roof. Her white fur bristled, and her frosted blue eyes seem to peirce through Earthstorm's fur. (C)

Earthstorm who had no expected what Frozenshard had delivered was thrown aways as he crashed into Sunfrost and Appleblossom who were entering the warriors den, " Hey watch where your going will you!?" Sunfrost growled sidesteppimg the fallen tom. Appleblossom hissed at Sunfrost. " I'm sure he didn't run into the wall just to ruffle your fur!" Furyhope's eyes grew angered as she set them on Appleblossom, how dare she talk to him like that!! But just as she was going to open her mouth, Sunfrost retaliated. " Yes, and I'm sure he'll thank you for fighting his battles for him!!!" The golden toms fur bristled with anger, his frosted blue eyes chips of icy flint. Appleblossom's green eyes grew cold as she glared at Sunfrost, then her face fell as she looked at Earthstorm; She loved him so much, and yet... Earthstorm rose to his paws, his anger at Frozenshard long forgotton. " Great Starclan! What did she do so wrong to ruffle your fur Sunfrost!" Earthstorm snarled as he stood infront of Appleblossom. Her new attitude both alarmed and thrilled him, that was the she-cat he wanted to see, now he knew she'd be able to handle anything life threw at her. Furyhope glared at her brother, her mouth opening dispite her kinship, " If you had never said no to your destiny, then Frozenshard wouldn't have had to claw the living Starclan out of you!!" Earthstorm whipped his body around to face his bristling ginger sister with a shock to his mew, " What do you fancy Sunfrost, now do you?" His growl was so cold, that when he stared into Furyhope's eyes they grew tearfull, what was this coldness that consumed his heart? Frozenshard looked around guiltily, she knew that her younger sister liked, even loved Sunfrost. But she would not tell anyone. Appleblossom looked at Earthstorm with shock, was he really defending her? Did that mean he cared? " Earthstorm..." Appleblossom mewed quietly. Sunfrost hissed at Earthstorm giving him no time to answer Appleblossom, " Is her love life any bussiness of yours?" He turned his cold blue eyes upon the tearfull form of Furyhope and then looked back to Earthstorm, his eyes betraying his nervousness. Earthstorm's eyes dried of all the tearfullness, his ear flicked as he heard Appleblossom's quiet mew, " Yes, Appleblossom?" The light ginger she-cat looked at the dark ginger one and mewed, " Could we just go? You and I? Maybe to hunt, so that you can calm down?" but her mew faltered as she met his angered gaze. " NO! I do not want to hunt! I am fine where I am!" he growled, so angry that a blackness was blotting out his seince of reason. Appleblossom flinched as he growled at her, her eyes grew cold as she meowed tears running down her light ginger fur. " Ok, I tried Earthstorm, but this time you've gone to far..." she paused, her eyes wide with anger and fear, " I don't know why, couldn't you see? I love you Earthfrost, but maybe my effort was in vain. I won't forget this in a hurry."she hissed. With out another word, she turned tail and ran out of the warriors den, just as Moonflower and Aloeflower padded into the warriors den. They both paused with curious looks on their faces, " I don't even want to know." Moonflower meowed, her white fur bristled with the tension that lie thick in the air. " Let's go Aloeflower." she hissed and ran out of the den. Aloeflower looked at Sunfrost, her gaze lingered then she ran out.
Earthstorm stood rigid with shock, he knew that Appleblossom liked him, but love? His fur bristled as he relized his mistake and imeditatly darted out of the warriors' den yowling " Appleblossom!!! I'm so sorry!" and left; Frozenshard, Sunfrost and Furyhope all alone...
II: Even Star-cats make mistakes
Frozenshard let out a small sigh. Nodding to Sunfrost and Furyhope she padded outside to sit in the dew covered grass and listen to the sound of the water fall that lie in their terriory. What she was really doing, was trying to listen to the conversation that Sunfrost and Furyhope had stuck. She wished her younger lovesick sister the best of luck. So she angled her ear towrds the warriors den and listened to what they were saying...
" So Furyhope." Sunfrost mewed, his golden fur bristling lightly upon his spine. He shufflled his thick furred paws. " Even in the heat of the arguement between your brother and I, I cannot help but wonder if what he said was true." he paused, and covered his nerves with a lick of a golden paw. He looked up and looked Furyhope in the eyes, " I must know Furyhope, is what he said true?" The dark ginger she-cat found it hard to look at the sun-kissed fur of Sunfrost. Her heart hammered in her chest, and she found it hard not to cry. Yes, what her brother said was true, but what if he laughed at her? She feared so many possible bad outcomes, that it made her fur rise along her spine. She took a deep breath, the sound of the waterfall soothing to her and meowed, " Sunfrost," she began looking into his frosted eyes, her own wide with fear. " I cannot begin to honestly discribe my feelings I have twords you... But if these are the words that will answer yor question; I love you. I always did and I always will." she finished simply, her deepest secret revealed.
At the words 'I love you' Sunfrost looked into Furyhope's tearfull eyes. His golden fur felt as if it would catch on fire, and all the words he had to speak becoming like cobwebs in his mouth. He licked a paw to pass the time, as he tried to avoid the hopefull look that the dark ginger she-cat was giving to him. But as he opened his mouth to speak, it seemed like ages ago Furyhope had spoke, and she found his silence to be off-putting. " Ok, I understand Sunfrost..." she mewed quietly, tear drops falling from her cheek fur onto the sandy ground, " But, I didn't relize you didn't care for me at all." With the words of departure spoken, Furyhope turned tail and ran her sobs echoing off the bramble bush walls.
Sunfrost sat rigid, she loved him? But wait, didn't he also love her but too afraid to tell her? " Furyhope wait!" Sunfrost yowled darting outside. He passed Frozenshard and the look of thunder on her pretty face told of her anger. " What did you do to her?" she hissed flexing her long hooked claws into the dew covered grass. Sunfrost stopped, dignifed and looking afronted. " I did no such thing..." he murrmured to himself more than Frozenshard. Frozenshard's icy eyes peirced right through Sunfrost, " Look!" she snarled. " Go after her! You know she loves you, and I can see you love her! Sunfrost snarled right back, he had no fear of Frozenshard, " What in Starclan's name did you think I was doing dung for brains!" Frozenshard's eyes grew wide with anger, " Don't you call me names, just because what I said was true!" she snarled angerly. Sunfrost hissed with mock laughter, then his face fell into a frown. " She doesn't know, how much I really do care." he admitted, his sunkissed fur bristling. " Just like Hollowpromise loves you, and Just like Glasshope fell for your brother Hiddeninsanity...I don't know. I am afraid of commitment." he finished. Frozenshard's frosted eyes grew wide when she heard the words' Hollowpromise loves you'. Her white fur bristled nervously as she thought of the tom who had loved her even as a kit. Even when her sistser died, and even when she spat words of hate twords him, he had always loved her? She looked at the now darkening sky, and the stars that were starting to appear over Silverpelt. She padded over and gave Sunfrost a brisk lick to the ear, " Look, go after her. Hurry, before it's too late." Sunfrost nodded with a weak smile, " Thanks Frozenshard. Hollowpromise is lucky to have a she-cat like you. Please, treat him well." he meowed as he started to walk away, then broke into a run as he darted through the cats to find Furyhope.
Frozenshard could not help but let out a tiny mrrrow of laughter, as she did so a soft tail brushed her shoulder. As she turned around she found herself face to face with her brother; Earthstorm. " She hates me." he wimpered quite unlike himself. Frozenshard looked at her brother's almost desperate face to find him crying. " Don't worry, she'll come around. Tell you the truth, she even suprised me!" Frozenshard meowed seriousness dripping from every word. She brushed her tail across his flank and meowed, " Go get some rest, I'm sure she'll come around. And I'll have a little talk with her. When I return." Earthstorm looked suprised, " When you return?" Frozenshard purred and replied, "I am to accompany Hollowpromise to Mothermouth." Earthstorm nodded, " You love him, don't you?" Frozenshard became very nervous, she shifted her paws in the dew covered ground. She looked into Earthstorm's eyes, the glint of Silverpelt in her own and meowed, " Yes, I daresay I do."
Earthstorm let out a soft mrrow of laughter, " I could tell. I remember when we were still young kits, and into apprenticeship. Before Spectresnow died, you and Hollowpromise always used to play-fight and share tounges. I knew he had always loved you dispite the fact his mother, father and brother all deserted him. But he had you, Earthfrost and Sunfrost, to make his life better and worth living. He flicked his older kin with his dark ginger tail, and padded into the warriors den. He paused at it's entrance and meowed, " Oh, and what ever we need to do. I'll see that Hollyfrost's death is avenged."
Frozenshard nodded and replied, "Good. I am glad to see that you have come around. Now, I must see to Furyhope. Then." she paused, her eyes shining as she set them on Hollowpromise. " Then. I can begin a new chapter in life." She purred to herself as she padded away to look for her sister.
III: What Furyhope saw, and Sunfrost's soft side
She ran, what else could she do? She knew he didn't love her. She knew her feelings were just to be kept to herself. Well, atleast she knew that now. But as she stopped outside the camp's fern and bramble bushed walls; a voice called to her. As she looked around, Furyhope let out a small gasp to see Sunfrost, his fur torn and his cheek fur glistening with a light mist. She stopped herself and collected her thoughts before she spoke, " Why did you come after me? Do you wish to hurt my already torn heart further?"
Sunfrost let out a small sigh, his tail bristled too twice it's size as he spoke. " Furyhope, I am sorry. When you told me your true feelings, I froze." he paused for a moment and pawed the ground nervously. " I just didn't relize, that such a beautiful cat like you, would like a tom like me. I just didn't relize Furyhope. I love you too." he ended his speech with a small wimper of fear, bairly audible, but heard.
Furyhope's eyes grew wide, she looked at the autumn blanketed ground and then looked up at the golden tom. There she stood, battling with her feelings. It took effort, but she mannaged to lower her bristling dark ginger fur, look Sunfrost in the eye and mew. " Sunfrost," She began the rustling of a mouse disturbing her. " When I told you the way I felt I was so nervous. I think, that I didn't give you enough time to speak. " She stopped and padded over to the golden tom, nuzzling him under the chin. " I'm just glad, that my hope and love weren't in vain."
Sunfrost purred deeply and mewed, " Never! I love you Furyhope. You gave me the courage to show my true feelings. He nuzzled her back and licked her muzzle tenderly, a loud purr deep in his throat. He pulled back to see her green eyes shining as she stared at him. He sat down and cuddled his love close; It brought him back to kithood.
" Come on Hollykit, Furykit and Frozenkit! Mother said to be back before sundown!!" mewed the highpitched voice of Earthkit, his dark ginger fur fluffed out as he gently touched noses with Applekit. " Great Star-clan!"squeaked Furykit, " You said your goodbyes. So that means we can too!" She sat with Sunkit who was sharing tounges with her, but he licked her fur the wrong way so it stood up at an odd angle. Earthkit's dark ginger fur puffed out as he stalked up to his sister, but playfully. Sunkit took this as an invatation to protect Furykit and pounced on Earthkit biting hard on his tail. Applekit spat crossly as Earthkit yowled his pain...
Sunfrost let out a small purr, all the memories of kit-hood filled with the moments he and Furyhope spent together. But then Sunfrost remembered. " Furyhope, Hollowpromise wanted me from a patrol. See you in the den later?" His deep blue eyes sought out the love in her eyes, and another purr escaped him. His golden fur bristled nervously around her still, she was so precious to him.
Furyhope let out a purr equal to Sunfrost's, " Sure!" she mewed nuzzling him under the chin. She let her long furred paws work the grass silently as she finally sat with the cat who she loved even when she was a kit. Her green eyes looked at the sky, and she sent a silent thanks to Starclan. She looked at his golden fur as he gave her another quick nuzzle then rose to his paws and padded back to camp, his tail held high. Furyhope smiled with a soft sigh. She looked around, the prey scents flooding her mouth, so she decided to stop for a quick hunt. Little did Furyhope know, that she was about to tread on a well kept secret of the clan, of her new leader, and a mistake he made long ago...
"What do you want Dragonflower?" snarled a voice. Furyhope jumped, and hoped her scent was downwind as she quickly climbed an Oak tree. The sound of two cats arguing made it's way into the hollow that Furyhope's paws had just been, it was Hollowpromise. His black, white, and brown fur was torn, and it bristled to it's fullest extent as a she-cat made her way through the bushes.
